Description

A classic dish combining tender beef and crisp broccoli in a savory sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or gluten-free soy sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over high heat.
  3. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed and stir-fry the garlic for about 30 seconds.
  5. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
  6. Return the cooked beef to the pan and add the sauce mixture. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  7. Drizzle with sesame oil, season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve over hot rice.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or sliced chili peppers. Use chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
