Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Black or dark chocolate frosting
- Green frosting or candy melts
- Mini marshmallows, gumdrops, or candy pearls
- Candy eyeballs (optional)
- Pretzel sticks or licorice strings for decoration
- Edible glitter or shimmer dust
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients to form dough.
- Roll dough evenly to 1/4 inch thick, cut into rounds, and place on baking sheet.
- Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are set. Cool completely.
- Spread black or dark chocolate frosting over cookies to create cauldron base.
- Pipe green frosting along top edges to mimic bubbling potion.
- Add mini marshmallows, candy pearls, or gumdrops for magical effect.
- Attach pretzel sticks or licorice strings as handles. Sprinkle with edible glitter.
- Serve as spooky Halloween treats or store in airtight container until ready.
Notes
Chill dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent spreading. Decorate cookies close to serving time for best results.
