Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Green food coloring
- Sprinkles for decoration
- Royal icing (optional for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts, adding green food coloring to one part and mixing until even.
- Roll out both doughs between parchment paper until 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out shapes using a tree-shaped cookie cutter and create trunks from the plain dough if desired.
- Place cutouts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges turn golden.
- Let cool completely before decorating with royal icing or sprinkles.
Notes
Use softened butter for the best texture. Do not over-mix the dough, and let cookies cool completely before decorating.
