Description

A delightful dish combining juicy turkey with vibrant citrus and fragrant herbs, perfect for any special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 pound turkey breast, bone-in, skin-on
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the softened butter with lemon zest, orange zest, rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
  2. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Carefully loosen the skin over the turkey breast. Spread half of the citrus herb butter under the skin and the other half on top.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the quartered onion inside the turkey cavity. Arrange the lemon and orange slices on top and around the turkey in a roasting pan. Pour chicken broth into the pan. Roast for about 120 to 150 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste the turkey with the pan juices every 30 minutes.
  4. Let the turkey rest for about 15-20 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

Using fresh herbs instead of dried ones adds more flavor to the butter. Allowing the turkey to rest before cutting will keep it juicy.
