Description

A simple yet delightful sweet and crunchy candy, perfect for holiday celebrations and gifting.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, like almonds or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking sheet with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
  3. Once the butter is melted, stir in the granulated sugar and salt. Keep stirring until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Allow the mixture to boil without stirring for about 6-8 minutes or until it turns a golden-brown color.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Quickly pour the toffee onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
  7. While still hot, sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let them sit for a minute to melt, then spread the melted chocolate over the toffee.
  8. If using nuts, sprinkle them on top of the chocolate layer.
  9. Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature, then break it into pieces.
