Description

A crispy chicken sandwich with rich Caesar dressing, perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 brioche buns, split
  • 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup shaved Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: Tomato slices

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a medium bowl, mix buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Add chicken breasts, ensuring they are submerged. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
  2. Prepare the Dredging Station: In a shallow dish, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Dredge the Chicken: Remove chicken from the buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Coat each breast in the flour mixture and place on a wire rack.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the Chicken: Add chicken to hot oil without overcrowding, frying for 6-8 minutes per side until golden and 165°F (74°C) internally.
  6. Drain the Chicken: Use a slotted spoon to remove chicken and place on paper towel-lined wire rack.
  7. Combine Dressing Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk mayonnaise, Parmesan, lemon juice, Dijon, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper.
  8. Emulsify the Dressing: Slowly whisk in olive oil until smooth.
  9. Taste and Adjust Dressing: Adjust seasonings as needed.
  10. Toast the Buns (Optional): Lightly toast brioche buns if desired.
  11. Spread the Dressing: Generously spread Caesar dressing on both halves of each bun.
  12. Add the Lettuce: Place chopped romaine on the bottom half of the bun.
  13. Add the Chicken: Top with a crispy chicken breast.
  14. Add Parmesan Cheese: Sprinkle shaved Parmesan over the chicken.
  15. Add Tomato (Optional): Place tomato slices on top if using.
  16. Top with the Bun: Place the top bun over everything.
  17. Serve Immediately: Enjoy the sandwich hot and crispy!
