Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 cup cold milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks, cold)
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Gradually add cold milk and mix until a dough forms; knead briefly.
- Shape the dough into a ball, cover, and let it rise in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Place cold butter in the center, fold the dough over, and roll out again.
- Fold the dough into thirds, wrap in plastic, and chill for another 30 minutes.
- Repeat the rolling and folding process two more times.
- Roll out the final dough and cut it into triangles.
- Roll each triangle tightly and shape into a crescent.
- Place on baking sheets, let them rise, then brush with egg wash.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
Serve warm and fresh with spreads or as a sandwich.
