Description

Delightfully flaky and buttery homemade croissants, perfect for breakfast or a snack.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks, cold)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Gradually add cold milk and mix until a dough forms; knead briefly.
  3. Shape the dough into a ball, cover, and let it rise in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  5. Place cold butter in the center, fold the dough over, and roll out again.
  6. Fold the dough into thirds, wrap in plastic, and chill for another 30 minutes.
  7. Repeat the rolling and folding process two more times.
  8. Roll out the final dough and cut it into triangles.
  9. Roll each triangle tightly and shape into a crescent.
  10. Place on baking sheets, let them rise, then brush with egg wash.
  11. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm and fresh with spreads or as a sandwich.
