Description

These homemade biscuits are soft, flaky, and perfect for any meal. Enjoy them warm with butter or as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp baking powder (aluminum free)
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 3/4 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 cup half and half (minus 2 Tbsp)
  • 1/2 Tbsp melted butter (to brush the baked biscuits)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt together.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small pieces and add it to the dry ingredients. Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually pour in the half and half, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently fold it over itself a few times.
  6. Roll it out to about 1-inch thick and cut out biscuits with a round cutter.
  7. Place the biscuits on a baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Brush the tops with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven.

Notes

Use cold butter for flaky biscuits. Don’t overmix the dough and ensure your baking powder is fresh for the best rise.
