Description
A soft, flavorful sourdough sandwich bread perfect for toast and sandwiches.
Ingredients
- 65 grams active sourdough starter
- 300 grams lukewarm water
- 12 grams salt (2 teaspoons)
- 14 grams sugar
- 15 grams oil (avocado or olive) (1 tablespoon, plus more for coating the pan)
- 400 grams bread flour
- 100 grams all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Feed your sourdough starter 4-8 hours before making the bread.
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, lukewarm water, sugar, and oil until combined.
- Gradually add the bread flour and all-purpose flour, then mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Let the dough rest for 30 minutes, then add the salt and knead until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 4-6 hours until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and shape it into a rectangle, rolling it tightly into a loaf shape.
- Place the shaped dough seam-side down in a greased loaf pan and let it rise for another 1-2 hours until it rises above the edge of the pan.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
