Delightful fluffy pastries perfect for any occasion, dusted with powdered sugar.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and vanilla.
- Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove the beignets and drain them on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed warm, serve with fruit preserves, chocolate sauce, or whipped cream for dipping.
