Description

Delightful fluffy pastries perfect for any occasion, dusted with powdered sugar.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • Oil for frying


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  6. Remove the beignets and drain them on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm, serve with fruit preserves, chocolate sauce, or whipped cream for dipping.
