Description

Deliciously soft and buttery garlic bread rolls perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk (warmed to 110°F)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 beaten egg, for brushing the tops
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for garlic butter)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (for garlic butter)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garlic butter)
  • Flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Lightly butter the bottom and sides of a 9×13 pan and set it aside.
  2. In a small pot, melt the butter and add the minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warmed milk, egg, and cooled garlic butter mixture. Knead with a dough hook until smooth and tacky, about 10-12 minutes.
  4. Cut the kneaded dough into 12 portions, shape into balls, and place in the prepared pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1-2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  6. Brush tops of rolls with beaten egg wash and bake for 20-30 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. For garlic butter, melt 2 tablespoons butter, add 1 tablespoon minced garlic, cook for 1-2 minutes, then stir in parsley.
  8. Brush baked rolls with garlic butter and sprinkle with flaky sea salt before serving warm.

Notes

For extra garlic flavor, add more minced garlic to the dough or butter mixture. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
