Delicious and guilt-free bite-sized treats made with whole wheat flour and unsweetened applesauce, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- Oil spray
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.
- In another bowl, combine the applesauce with the honey or maple syrup.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir until everything is combined.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Scoop the dough into small balls and place them in the air fryer basket.
- Spray with a little oil and air fry for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
- In a separate bowl, combine the coconut sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Once the churro bites are done, toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while they are still warm.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your healthy churro bites!
Notes
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket and adjust sweetness to taste. Add nutmeg or vanilla for extra flavor!
