Description

Delicious and guilt-free bite-sized treats made with whole wheat flour and unsweetened applesauce, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • Oil spray
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, combine the applesauce with the honey or maple syrup.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir until everything is combined.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Scoop the dough into small balls and place them in the air fryer basket.
  6. Spray with a little oil and air fry for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  7. In a separate bowl, combine the coconut sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  8. Once the churro bites are done, toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while they are still warm.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy your healthy churro bites!

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket and adjust sweetness to taste. Add nutmeg or vanilla for extra flavor!
