A healthier twist on the classic churro, these bite-sized churro bites are baked and made with wholesome ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a mini muffin tin with cooking spray.
- Combine the whole wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
- Mix the applesauce, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the mini muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Let them cool slightly before serving, optionally rolling them in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar for extra flavor.
Notes
These churro bites are best served warm and can be paired with hot chocolate or any favorite dipping sauce. Store in an airtight container for up to three days.
