Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
- Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the cream of mushroom soup on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ground beef, and soup.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
- Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can add other vegetables like carrots or green beans for extra flavor. For a spicier version, consider adding diced bell peppers or jalapeños. You can prepare it a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator until baking.
