A comforting dish that combines meatloaf and macaroni and cheese in a delicious casserole, perfect for families.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 cup macaroni pasta
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, diced onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Stir the cooked macaroni and 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese into the beef mixture. Pour in the milk mixture and stir until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish. Top with remaining cheddar cheese and spread ketchup evenly on top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your comforting meal!
Notes
For a thicker texture, add more cheese to the mixture before baking. You can use ground turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative.
