Description

Soft, buttery sugar cookies with a melt-in-your-mouth texture, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well mixed.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until fully combined.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and then roll them in sugar.
  7. Place the balls on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten each one with the bottom of a glass.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on wire racks and enjoy!

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week or freeze them for up to three months. Chill the dough for firmer cookies and don’t overbake.
