A delicious and hearty dish combining layers of spaghetti, savory Italian sausage, ricotta, and gooey mozzarella, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked spaghetti, ricotta cheese, salt, and pepper.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti mixture, followed by half of the sausage marinara mixture, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers.
- Top with remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
For extra flavor, use spicy Italian sausage or mix in vegetables like spinach or bell peppers. You can substitute with a plant-based meat alternative for a vegetarian version.
