Description

A hearty and satisfying casserole that combines the rich flavors of a classic burger, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef (or ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based meat)
  • 1 Onion (yellow onion or shallots)
  • 8 oz Mushrooms (crimini or button)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup Beef Broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 6 oz Swiss Cheese (or cheddar, mozzarella)
  • 1 cup Sour Cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • 4 pieces Hamburger Buns (or gluten-free buns)
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the mushrooms and cook for another 5-7 minutes, until they soften.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned.
  6. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  7. In a separate bowl, mix the sour cream with half of the Swiss cheese.
  8. Layer the bottom of a baking dish with the hamburger buns, followed by the beef mixture, and top with the sour cream mixture. Sprinkle the remaining Swiss cheese on top.
  9. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

Serve hot from the oven with a fresh salad or steamed vegetables. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
