Description
Bazlama, or Turkish bread, is a simple and comforting no-oven bread recipe made with just a few basic ingredients. Soft, fluffy, and cooked on the stovetop, this beginner-friendly bread brings authentic Turkish flavor to your kitchen and pairs perfectly with dips, soups, or wraps.
Ingredients
- 500 g bread flour or all-purpose flour
- 160 ml warm milk
- 160 ml warm water
- 10 g instant dry yeast
- 10 g sugar
- 8 g salt
- 20 g melted unsalted butter or olive oil
- Chopped parsley
Instructions
- Mix warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast until combined.
- Add flour and salt, then mix until a dough forms.
- Knead by hand until smooth and no longer sticky.
- Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Divide dough into 6 equal pieces and shape into rounds.
- Roll each piece into an 18 cm circle about 5 mm thick.
- Heat a thick pan over medium heat.
- Cook dough on one side until bubbles form, then flip.
- Lower heat and cook until bread puffs and cooks through.
- Cover with a cloth while cooking to keep bread soft.
- Brush with melted butter or olive oil before serving.
Notes
Use warm liquids, not hot, to activate yeast properly. A thick pan helps the bread rise and cook evenly.
