Description

A delicious and easy breakfast option with layers of sweet bread and juicy blueberries, perfect for any day.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (brioche or French bread)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Tear the bread into pieces and place half in the prepared dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour half of the mixture over the bread in the baking dish.
  4. Layer on the blueberries, then add the remaining bread pieces on top.
  5. Pour the remaining egg mixture over the top, gently pressing the bread to absorb the liquid.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, uncovered, until golden and set. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

For best results, use day-old bread. Feel free to mix in other fruits or add nuts for variety.
