Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for rolling


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  8. Roll each ball in powdered sugar until well coated.
  9. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until slightly crinkled on top.
  11. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
