Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
- Add the eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
- Roll each ball in powdered sugar until well coated.
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until slightly crinkled on top.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a softer cookie, slightly underbake them. Consider adding white chocolate chips or chopped nuts for variation.
