Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef (chuck roast or brisket)
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions (sliced for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Cooked rice (for serving)


Instructions

  1. Cut the beef into chunks and place it in the slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce over the beef in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the beef is tender.
  5. Once done, shred the beef with two forks.
  6. Serve the Korean beef over cooked rice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Choose well-marbled beef for a more tender result. Adjust brown sugar to your taste. Add red pepper flakes for spice if desired.
