Description

A simple and delicious way to use sourdough starter discard, transforming it into a soft loaf perfect for beginners.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter discard
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil


Instructions

  1. Combine the sourdough starter discard, warm water, and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Mix well and let it sit for about 15 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Shape the dough into a loaf or desired shape and place it on a baking sheet.
  7. Let it rest for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool before slicing and enjoy!

Notes

Store the bread in a paper bag at room temperature for a few days. For longer storage, wrap it tightly and freeze for up to three months.
