Ingredients
- 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk or heavy cream
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
Topping:
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a medium casserole dish.
- Boil sweet potatoes in salted water for 15 minutes until tender, then drain and mash until smooth.
- In a large bowl, mix melted butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Fold in the mashed sweet potatoes until creamy and well combined.
- Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
- In a separate bowl, combine chopped pecans, brown sugar, flour, and melted butter to make the topping.
- Sprinkle topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until the top is golden and fragrant.
