Description

Delicious fudgy brownies made with sourdough discard, combining rich chocolate flavor with a hint of sourdough.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter and stir in the granulated and brown sugars until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in the sourdough starter until fully incorporated.
  5. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow to cool before slicing into squares. Enjoy your fudgy sourdough brownies!
