Ingredients
- 4 large egg whites
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Green food coloring
- Colored sprinkles (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until foamy.
- Add cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until stiff peaks form.
- Stir in vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring to achieve the desired shade.
- Using a piping bag fitted with a star tip, pipe tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Decorate with colored sprinkles if desired.
- Bake for 1-2 hours or until the meringues are dry and lift off easily from the parchment.
- Once cool, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
